Heinrich Friedrich Frankenberger (1824-1885) was born in Wurmbach bei Gehren in Thuringia (modern-day Germany). As a child he demonstrated special gifts and affinity for music and in 1841 began studying with town musician Louis Barthel in Sondershausen. There he was able to participate in the court orchestra (Hofkapelle). In 1850 he was appointed court musician. He also taught music in the Provincial Seminary for Teachers and from 1862 on held the position of court organist. In 1856 he founded the St. Cecilia Society of Sonderhausen.
Frankenberger wrote operas: “Die Hochzeit zu Venedig” ("The Wedding in Venice,") “Vineta” und der “Günstling” ("The Favorite").
From 1877 to 1880 he directed the evening concerts and all events of the court orchestra.
