Albeniz, Isaac (1860, 1909)

The Spanish pianist and composer, Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909), was a child prodigy and gave his first piano recital when he was only four years old. He was a founder of contemporary Spanish music and created a distinctive style by using national rhythms and harmonies.
Although he wrote several operas, (including a King Arthur with an English text), songs and orchestral works, he is probably best known for his piano compositions.



The music for piano includes the four books of the Suite Iberia, the Suite Española, Op. 47, Twelve Characteristic Pieces (12 piezas caracteristicas), Op. 92 and Recuerdos de viaje, Op. 71.
