Clarke, Jeremiah (1673, 1707)

KomponistOhneBild.jpg
Jeremiah Clarke (1673-1707) was organist and choral director at St. Paul's cathedral in London, then newly built by Christopher Wren. Although he primarily composed church music, he also wrote songs for the stage as well as triumphal music to celebrate the victory of the Duke of Marlborough in the Spanish Wars of Succession.

He is the real composer of the "Trumpet Voluntary," that beloved musical composition long attributed to Purcell.
