Johann Caspar Aiblinger (1779-1867) was a composer in the classical style with a flare for balance in his orchestration and his careful structuring of his pieces. His talent was exemplified primarily in a number of religious works probably influenced by his studies in theology, philosophy, and music with Mayr. During a period of seven years (1804-1811) Aiblinger also studied music in Italy. He was fortunate enough to have been appointed Kapellmeister at the Italian Opera House in Munich and later, court Kapellmeister. His major work was the opera "Rodrigo und Chimene" but it failed because of the libretto and the admixture of Italian and French styles. "Marienlieder" was a collection of songs composed by Aiblinger which successfully conveyed the character of the people.
