Dmitri Stepanowitch Bortniansky : Tebe Poem (O Lord, grant us peace)
Dmitri Bortniansky’s choral work “Tebe Poem” is composed as an a cappella piece for mixed choir and derives its impact not so much from dramatic contrasts as from a continuous intensification of sound within a homophonic texture. It combines the liturgical function of a prayer of thanksgiving with a deliberately simple musical structure that underscores the meditative character of the Orthodox anamnesis.
