Engelbert Humperdinck : Abendsegen (Abends will ich schlafen gehn)
The “Evening Blessing” from Engelbert Humperdinck's opera Hansel and Gretel is composed in such a way that the two singing voices are often carried in parallel, creating a particularly calm, balanced sound. In addition, the orchestral accompaniment is deliberately kept simple so that the melodic line of the voices and the character of an evening prayer clearly come to the fore.
