Dmitri Stepanowitch Bortniansky : Kol' slaven
The melody was originally composed for a freemasons‘ song written by Mikhail Matveyevich Kheraskov (1733-1807) (German title: "Wie ruhmreich ist unser Herr in Zion") which used to be the unofficial national anthem of Russia. Speakers of German may also be familiar with this song by the title of "Ich bete an die Macht der Liebe" which is used, for instance, as a prayer at the "Großer Zapfenstreich" (Grand Tattoo).
