Dmitri Stepanowitch Bortniansky : Song of Love (Ich bete an die Macht der Liebe)
Dmitri Bortnianski’s tranquil melody gives the song the feel of a personal evening prayer, even though it was not originally intended for use in church services. The combination of a pietistic German text with a courtly Eastern European composition has produced a hymn that, to this day, sounds both solemn and surprisingly intimate.
