Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart : Mass in C Major "Coronation Mass", 1. Kyrie eleison
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Coronation Mass is characterized by a strikingly compact structure of its movements, in which the Gloria and Credo in particular, despite their length, retain an unusual conciseness thanks to their clear formal organization and brisk tempos. It is also noteworthy that the festive effect arises less from contrapuntal density than from the deliberate alternation between homophonic choral sounds and passages dominated by soloists, thereby creating an immediate, almost operatic expression within the liturgical form.
