Claude Debussy : Clair de Lune
“Clair de lune” is the third movement of the piano suite “Suite bergamasque” and appears at a point in the cycle where the previously more lively character pieces give way to a significantly calmer sound. The piece’s effect arises not from virtuosic density, but from the careful gradation of melody, accompanying figures, and harmonic color changes across a comparatively expansive musical progression.
