(Johann) Michael Haydn : Deutsche Messe (arr. for a cappella choir)
Joseph Haydn’s Mass is structured in such a way that its clearly defined melodic phrases provide an immediate guide for congregational singing, thereby encouraging the active participation of the congregation. It is also striking that the simple harmonic structure was chosen not merely for practical reasons, but specifically to support an accessible interpretation that remains faithful to the text, in which musical elements are consistently subordinated to the liturgical content.
