Kugelmann, Hans (Johann) -

KomponistOhneBild.jpg
Hans (Johann) Kugelmann (1495-1542) was a German composer and kapellmeister. He was a trumpeter at the court of Emperor Maximilian I in Innsbruck from 1518/1519, later served the House of Fugger in Augsburg, and in 1524 came to the court of Duke Albrecht V of Prussia in Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). There he worked as first court trumpeter and court composer and from 1534 to 1542 became the court kapellmeister and director of the choir. His collected works of 1540, polyphonic liturgical compositions with Latin and primarily German texts, is an important document of early Protestant church music.
