Michael Altenburg (1584-1640), composer of sacred music, studied theology in Erfurt and later became a minister in Ilversgehofen and Marbach. He fled as a result of the Thirty Years War to Erfurt, where he became deacon of the Augustiner church in 1637 and pastor of the Andreas church.
