Of Pietro Baldassari we know only that he came from Rome, was a cleric, maintained connections with the Viennese court, and during the 1720s held the position of Kapellmeister of the congregation of the Oratorio di San Filippo Neri in Brescia. Four of his oratorios were performed in Bologna. He also wrote two Sonatas for trumpet (cornet), strings, and basso continuo in the Bolognese style.
