Ulrich Metzner (1948 - ) was born in Lichtenfels/Main, Germany. He began taking piano lessons at the age of seven and organ lessons at the age of sixteen. He took up his first position as organist in Redwitz/Rodach at the age of seventeen. He studied music pedagogy at the Musikhochschule in Munich from 1971-1975 and attended a seminar in Würzburg.



From 1977-2007 he worked as a music teacher at the high school in Feuchtwangen. He organized many school events and concerts (including the musical "Yanomamo" and the "Threepenny Opera"), as well as performing numerous concerts as pianist, organist, harpsichordist and accompanist. He directed the Feuchtwangen Instrumentalkreis from 1986-1997 and was pianist of the Erstes Ansbacher Salonensemble from 1994-2000. As a member of the regional council of the national German music competition \\\"Jugend musiziert\\\" he organized regional competitions in Feuchtwangen.



Since 1976 he has been a member of \\\"spectaculum musicale\\\" of Lichtenfels, performing works of the Renaissance and early baroque period; this ensemble performed in numerous venues in Germany and Hungary.



From 1990 - 1993 he was the choral director of the Kreuzgangspiele Feuchtwangen (\\\"Kiss me Kate\\\", \\\"Träume von Schale und Kern\\\", Sommernachtstraum\\\") In summer 2003 and 2005 he performed in gala concerts at the Festspiele in Röttingen/Tauber with singers from Salzburg and Dresden. Also repeat performances in the Castle concerts (Schlosskonzerte) in Öttingen.



He is a frequent accompanist of the chamber choir and of the women's choir of the Franconian Singers' Association (Fränkischer Sängerbund) under the direction of Franz Möckl, including concerts all over Germany and in Italy (Rome, Florence, Assisi) and the Czech Republic (Prague).



In the summer of 2003 and 2005 he played the piano in gala concerts of the Festspiele in Röttingen/Tauber with singers from Salzburg and Dresden. He again performed with the castle concerts in Öttingen.



From 2002 - 2006 he was a member of the vocal ensemble \\\"consortium cantorum\\\" with concerts in Dinkelsbühl, Herrieden, Plankstetten, Wolframs-Eschenbach and Feuchtwangen.
