Reinhard Fehling (born 1948) was born in Mettmann bei Düsseldorf, Germany. He studied pegagoy at the Pädagogische Hochschule Rheinland, Abt. Wuppertal. He has been a teacher at the Carlo-Schmid-Comprehensive School since 1971. Since 1998 he has taught at the Institut für Musik und Musikwissenschaft (Institute for Music and Musicology) of the Technical University of Dortmund. He has composed many song cycles (on texts by Heinrich Heine, Kurt Tucholsky, Peter Maiwald, Erich Fried, Hans-Eckardt Wenzel, Steffen Mensching, Theodor Kramer and others) from a capella to symphonic setting (e.g. "...aber ich" - an oratorio after texts by Berthold Viertel and Franz Schubert's Tale "Mein Traum"). In 2011 he got the degree Dr. phil. by discovering and reconstructing a forgotten oratorio of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (title: 'Septem Verba' - an oratorio 'del Signore Pergolese').
