Johann Bach (* born in 1604, in Wechmar, baptised on November 26, 1604, † 1673 in Erfurt, funeral on May 13, 1673), actually John Bach, not to be confused with Johann Bach (1621-1686). The musician and pastor (founder of Lehnstedter line of the Bach family), was the earliest member of the Bach family to make his mark as a composer. He is considered the founder of the Erfurt line of the family and was the great-uncle of Johann Sebastian Bach. He was the eldest son of John Bach, brother of Christopher, and Heinrich Bach.
