Wilhelm Baumgartner was a swiss choirmaster, pianist and composer of piano pieces, art songs and choral works. After working as a private piano teacher in St. Gallen for two years he moved to Berlin in 1844, where Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy referred him on to Wilhelm Taubert to study composition. On the way back we met Richard Wagner in 1845 in Dresden.
