Stephen commenced his musical career in 1962 when he first took up the French horn. He subsequently studied at the Royal Military School of Music (Kneller Hall) from 1967-68 and then as a student bandmaster from 1975-1978. He was appointed as Bandmaster of the 1st Bn The Royal Anglian Regiment in 1978 and left military music 6 years later. Subsequently he has been associated with many musical organisations including wind bands, orchestras and choirs across the UK.
He now composes full time but still finds the time to play golf at Alcaidesa Golf Club (in Spain) two or three times a week.
He composes across all genres but specialises in writing for the french horn - he has currently a total of eighty-two compositions all of which are published online. Over the next few months he hopes to upload all of his music to the Musicalion site.
