Leo Fall was the brother of the composers Richard Fall and Siegfried Fall. (Note: Richard and Siegfried Fall were deported due to their Jewish ancestry to a concentration camp by the Nazis and later died there). After attending among others, the Vienna Conservatory of the Society of the Friends of Music (Wiener Konservatorium der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde), Leo Fall studied musical theory under Robert Fuchs and Johann Nepomuk Fuchs. In 1892, he became a chapel master in Hamburg, Germany, and later a solo violinst at the Berlin Metropolitan Theater.
