Friedrich Kühmstedt was born on December 20, 1809, in Oldesleben, Thuringia, Germany and was a professor and musical director at the seminary in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany. He died on January 8, 1858, as the result of a very painful sickness which left him bedridden for over a quarter of a year.
