Richard Martin Georgi became a teacher after completing his education in Gornsdorf and Klingenthal. During 1914, he transferred to a position as choirmaster/organist and secondary school teacher in the city of Thum where he was eventually promoted to graduate secondary-school teacher.

During his leisure time, he wrote poetry and set to music numerous songs. In addition, he wrote many motets, sonatas, musical comedies, and music for strings.
