Jakob Eduard Schmölzer (born March 9, 1812 in Graz, † January 9, 1886 in Kindberg) was an Austrian composer and collector of Styrian folk songs, z. B. by Anton Schosser poems.
Schmölzer learned flute. In 1835 married Louise Pferschy and moved to Kindberg in 1857 and lived in the castle. He collected Styrian songs and composed. Was called "Steirischer Liedervater" and became steward in the castle Oberkindberg. He died in 1886 in Kindberg. After him in Kindberg the Jakob Eduard Schmölzer Hauptschule is named.
