From childhood on I loved to make music. In 1948, the director of the nursery school I was attending, made reference to it and asked me to compose a song for the school. This is how my first song emerged, however only the melody. Due to an utter lack of music theory knowledge I was not able to compose a polyphonic set yet.
In 1953 I began my studies at the Institute for Musical Education, the Humboldt-University in Berlin. Where I received the necessary tools, which put me in a position to compose songs and write choruses. Theory of composition, harmony and counterpoint were part of my daily quota. After completing my studies, I worked for many years as a singing teacher.
