Astor Piazolla was an Argentine composer, and bandoneon player, whose musical talent was recognized at an early age. After initially composing orchestral and chamber music pieces in the style of his contemporaries, he found his own style in the "new" Argentine tango music, which he enriched with elements of classical modernism and jazz. Piazolla's tango music is no longer suitable as dance music, but is rather intended for concert stages, where it is still frequently played today. In addition to the original versions, there are numerous arrangements for a wide variety of instruments.
