Gabriel Plautz (first name also Gabriele; surname also Plautius, Plautzius, Plavec, Plautzio, Blautz, Plantz; surname Carniolus; * presumably around 1585 in Ljubljana, Duchy of Carniola, Inner Austria; † January 11, 1641 in Mainz) was a court conductor and composer in Mainz. There is no definite information about Plautz's youth and education. Due to his style, it is assumed that he received his training in Italy, possibly with Ruggiero Giovannelli.
On April 10, 1612, he became court music director in Mainz at the court of Elector and Archbishop Johann Schweikhard von Cronberg, where he succeeded Jan Le Febure.
