Carl Ecker was born on March 29, 1813, in Freiburg and died there on August 31, 1879. He initially studied law in Freiburg and Vienna, but then turned to music. He was a student of Simon Sechter and, from 1864, lived in Freiburg again as a respected composer. He wrote numerous choral works that enjoyed great popularity. He deserves to be rediscovered.
