Unknown Anonymus : Soran Bushi (ソーラン節)
Soran Bushi (ソーラン節) - is one of Japan's most popular min'yo (民謡) (folk songs). This
shanty was originally sung by fishermen in the north of Hokkaido Island but has spread throughout Japan and is sung in schools and festivals everywhere.
The lyrics are about the fun of pulling big fish into the boat, big waves and pretty girls. There is also a dance to it that symbolizes the movements of the fishermen. They pull the drift nets with the herrings into the boats. Of course, in the East there are also texts (fro our point of view afar) that are very offensive, often improvised, and therefore probably should be written down.
