Albert Neumayr was born 1944 in Amstetten in Lower Austria. He studied music pedagogy and German language and literature in Vienna before returning to his homeland and teaching music at the Gymnasium (high school) in Wieselburg.
As a child he improvised on recorder and at the piano, and wrote down little pieces which he performed in school concerts.
At the age of 13 and 14 Jahren he studied harmony, counterpoint and instrumentation at the Conservatory of Vienna. With a private teacher he studied ear training, harmonic and formal analysis and became acquainted with various compositional techniques and styles.
He directed the vocal club "Harmonie" Wieselburg (1972-1984 and again since 2002) and the glee club Scheibbs
(1977-1994); for many years he was the choral director of the "Alpenvorland" choir(1979-1991). He also directed the Wieselburg music school (1974-1977). In 1982 he founded and has since directed the chamber choir and chamber orchestra Musica Spontana Wieselburg. In 1991 he founded the Wieselburg youth choir (1991-1994). He is a member of the Renaissance music ensemble "Audite silete musica" (Gresten)
Awards: Recognition by Lower Austria (1981): choral director prizes in bronze, silver and gold; gold medallion from the city of Wieselburg (1993); silver medallion from the city of Scheibbs (1994).
His recorder, violin and piano teaching has made its mark in his compositions. He has written for recorder, piano, chamber music, voice, choir a cappella and choir with orchestra.
