Arthur Stammet was born in the city of Luxemburg in 1959 and now lives in Esch-Alzette in the principality of Luxemburg. He studied music (including voice) at the Conservatoire de Musique Esch-Alzette and musicology at the Université des Sciences Historiques in Strasbourg, France. He also studied electronic and computer music at the Centre de Recherches Musicales in Metz, France. He then studied voice at the summer courses of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and continued his opera and lieder studies at the Conservatoire de Musique in Brussels, Belgium.
He is currently Professor of Voice at the Conservatoire de Musique Esch/Alzette, where he also teaches music history, pedagogy and electronic music. He is frequently called to judge vocal competitions. Since 1985 he has conducted the "Chorale Sacré-Cœur Howald" and since 1996 the "Groupe Vocal du Conservatoire d’Esch-sur-Alzette", a group he founded himself consisting of trained men's voices performing opera chorus repertoire, early music and spirituals. In 2000 he founded the eleven-voice men's choir "Arthur's Round, the Knights of Gospel", which he provides with his own gospel and spiritual arrangements. Since September 2005 he has conducted the mixed chorus of the Conservatoire de Musique.
His compositional oeuvre includes: "Mimi(c)kry", a concerto for orchestra, a string quintet, "La Belle et la Bête" for flute and bass clarinet, 3 motets based on Gregorian motifs for mixed choir and organ; many studies in musique concrète, tape music, computer music and sound videos; ballet music ("Stultifera Navis", "Illuminations" as well as "Incandescences" for Solo-Oboe, slides and computer graphics), theater music for a surreal-abstract play called "OP/OPER/OPERA", music for the film "Différend" and the minute opera "

As a singer he has performed the standard opera and lieder repertoire at home and on tour (above all in Andalusia). In the 2000-01 season he performed the role of "Jesus-Christ Superstar" in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's musical of the same name in a Luxembourg production.
His name has appeared in several CD and video productions, and his concerts and recordings are regularly broadcast in Luxembourg.
