There has been one constant in my split career as a corporate programmer and children’s and seniors’ therapist: my love of music.
At age six I learned to play the flugelhorn. At age eight I began to learn the piano, guitar, recorder and the bassoon. At seventeen I began composing under the guidance of an organist. May first lead premiered with church singing group when I was 21.
I’ve served as the choir director for the same choir for the last 32 years with no thought of stopping. Our newest project will be "Musicals für Jung und Alt" with a girls’ choir.
As a therapist in a children’s home, I’ve led the children’s choir, flute group, guitar group, an employee’s choir and other projects.
Later, as a therapist in a large Catholic rest home, I led a singing group with guitar accompaniment, an Orff group (with individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s), relaxation with and without music, and musical performances on holidays and festivals.
I’m retired now, but continue to be as strongly involved in music as ever.
