Michael Haller (1840-1915) was a German church musician of the Cecilian Circle. He received his musical education as a student in the Metten monastery. In 1864 he became a priest in Regensburg, but continued to dedicate himself to church music. After 1867 he was kapellmeister and inspector of seminary studies and until 1910 teacher of counterpoint and vocal composition at the church music school in Regensburg. In 1882 he occupied for a short time the post of cathedral kapellmeister and thereby became also the director of the Regensburger Domspatzen (the renowned "Cathedral Sparrows" boys' choir of Regensburg). He made a significant contribution to the formation of a refined church music style consciously modelled on that of the old masters.
