Moritz Brosig (1815-1887) was a Catholic church musician from Silesia (now Poland). After his education was completed he became the cathedral organist and then cathedral kapellmeister in Breslau. He developed an admirable Romantic compositional style with original harmonies which point the way to the music of Reger. He wrote several masses, organ compositions and numerous sacred songs. He also wrote pedagogical texts and "Über die alten Kirchenkompositionen und ihre Wiedereinführung" ("On old church music and its reintroduction").
