Advice for composers using the Internet to publish and publicize their work?

kbrochet 02/08/2010 11:01:45
Does anyone have advice for new users (or for experienced users looking for a new approach) to publishing and publicizing their work on Musicalion.com and elsewhere on the Internet?

Tips on getting noticed, best ways to save, export and upload scores, etc.?

What are the best sized margins for submitting scores to prevent the headers and footers musicalion add bleeding into the score

The headers and footers will be added by the system. Contributors cannot prevent that with any other formatts. The reason is that scores from Musicalion are not "sold". They are available and allowed to be used only during the membership. That gives Musicalion the financial possbility to remunerate contributors for any full view of their uploaded works. Therefore we suppose the contributors agree to that.

Sorry Gerhard i don't think I explained myself very clearly. I have no objection to the headers / footers being added but I would like to format the music so that it does not bleed over into them - I just think I have make my margins too small and thought there would be some standard layouts you might recommend etc.

I guess you have a problem with the european format. We are using generally A4, probably you use "letter". You could fix that by downloading the pdf, open it with Acrobat Reader and define the way how A4 should be treated.
