She earned her PhD on the topic "Interkulturalitaet in der neuen Musik Koreas. Integration und Hybriditaet in der Musik von Isang Yun und Byungki Hwang [Cross-cultural comparison of Korean New Music. Integration and hybridization in the music of Isang Yun and Byungki Hwang]" at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. She worked as consultant for the music festival at the Academy of Music Maastricht and as a lecturer at the Institute of East Asian Studies of the University of Vienna.
She researches both East Asian and Western music as well as their aesthetics in interdisciplinary studies. In this context, the focus of her research is on Korean/East Asian art and culture, which is connoted in the context of an identity problem and then again in a cross-cultural perspective. Recently, as a result, she has published the monograph "Korean art and culture".
