Luciano Pavarotti (* 12 October 1935 in Modena; † 6 September 2007 ibid.) was an Italian opera singer (tenor). He is regarded beyond the boundaries of opera and classical music as one of the most important tenors of all time. As a member of the Three Tenors and as a duet partner of many pop artists, Pavarotti became a superstar. He also used his fame for benefit concerts. During his career, he sold more than 26.3 million records, including over 115,000 in his home country alone. Luciano Pavarotti's most successful release is the album The Three Tenors in Concert, which sold over 7.2 million units.
