for Band

This brief, rollicking opener is an attention-grabbing blast for players and audiences alike. Named for the Deer Path middle school band, who commissioned and premiered the piece, the music’s solid tempo and artful use of repetition make it an attainable stretch for younger players, while its syncopation, ranges, and occasional chromatic inflections will keep more experienced players engaged.
