Oratory: In music theory, an oratorio (“house of prayer,” from the Latin orare, “to pray”) refers to a dramatic, multi-part musical composition based on a mostly religious narrative, performed by a cast of characters, a choir, and an orchestra. It is often based on a biblical text, typically the Passion narrative.
