Felix Gass (1715-1752) was born in Neustadt an der Saale in modern-day Germany. He was baptized Georg Anton Hieronymus. After attending the Augustinergymnasium in Münnerstadt he entered holy orders in 1733. In 1734 he studied in Uttenweiler and in 1737 in Freiburg im Breisgau, where he was active as an organist. In 1739 he took his priestly vows and, except for a period 1740 to 1743 in Freiburg, Switzerland, remained active as an organist in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany until his death.
