Kaspar (Caspar) Förster (Foerster, Forster) (1616-1673) was a German singer and composer.
He was born in Danzig (now Gdansk, Poland) and received his musical education from his father Caspar Förster (from about 1574 to 1652) and afterwards from Marco Scacchi in Warsaw. Afterwards he performed at the court kapelle and then travelled to Italy for a long period. In 1652 the Danish King Friedrich III. called him to Copenhagen to take over the rebuilding of the court orchestra. The war between Denmark and Sweden which broke out in 1655 forced him to return to Danzig, where he was active as cantor at the Church of Mary. After a sojourn in Venice he returned to Copenhagen (1660). After he had stayed a while in Hamburg he returned for good to the town of his birth.
He composed six trio sonatas, sacred concerti and cantatas.
