August Weirich was born in Fugau, Bohemia. He received his musical education at the Vienna Ambrosius Society. In 1894 he became its choir director. His task was to provide church music on all Sundays and holy days for choir and organ. In 1898 he was appointed kapellmeister and director of the boys' choir at St. Stephan's Cathedral. He wrote a series of introits and communion settings.
