Salomé, Theodore 01/20/1834 - 07/26/1896

Théodore-César Salomé (1834-1896) was a French organist and composer. He studied harmony with François Bazin, composition with Ambroise Thomas and organ with François Benoist at the Paris Conservatory. In 1861 he won the first Second Grand Prix de Rome. He then became organist at the choir organ of Cavaillé-Coll at the Église de la Sainte-Trinité. He held this position until 1895.



In addition to choral works, Salomé published several collections of organ pieces; he also composed pieces for piano.



In addition he worked as rehearsal pianist for solfège at the Conservatoire de Paris, as a music teacher at the Collège Rollin and kapellmeister at the Lycée Saint-Louis.
