Franck, Michael 03/16/1609 - 09/24/1667

Michael Franck, a German Protestant, wrote lyrics for hymns. During the Thirty Years War, he left the county of Henneberg and became a teacher in Coburg, where Johann Rist declared him to be a poet.
Among his works are “Sei Gott getreu, halt seinen Bund” (Protestant Hymnal Baden-Elsaß-Pfalz 587) and “Ach wie flüchtig, ach wie nichtig ist der Menschen Leben!” (Protestant Hymnal 528 and Gotteslob 657).
