Matthias Wamser is a church musician in Basel, Switzerland, director of the choir ''rüschlikon'' and a board member of both the ''Zürcher Kirchenmusikerverband'' (Zürich Religious Musicians' Association) and the ''Kirchenmusikverband'' (Religious Music Association) at the ''Diocese of Basel''.
As a soloist on the organ as well as on the piano and harpsichord he performs a wide variety of musical functions. As part of his international concert activities, he has performed numerous world premieres and collaborated with renowned ensembles. He writes articles for professional journals in Germany and Switzerland; as a freelancer for several music publishers he is in charge of editions of old and new music.
He received his musical education primarily at the ''Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst'' (State College of Music and Performing Arts) in Stuttgart, Germany (Church Music A Diploma 1996) and at the ''Schola Cantorum'' in Basel (as part of postgraduate studies until 1999).
