Ferdinand Leicht was born on May 17, 1870, in Vienna, Austria and died on December 25, 1922, at Prater 14, Vienna 2, as a Varieté owner. He was the son of a showman who came to the ''Prater'' in 1882 as a travelling Varieté artist. He acquired the ''Zur weißen Gans'' Restaurant in 1888 in which he performed Varieté shows. In 1895, together with his brother, Wilhelm Leicht, Ferdinand took over the ''Zum schwarzen Tor'' Inn which was also located in the ''Prater''. He ran the inn as a Varieté until his death. He composed ''Wienerlieder'' (Songs of Vienna) which among them is the well-known ''I und der Mond''.
