Willy Geisler was the son of a wood-sculptor in the Wölfelsgrund high altitude health resort located in the Glatzer region of Silesia (formerly Germany) now Poland.
After completing his musical studies he began composing operettas. Over 30 opera stages performed his works in Germany during the 1920s. The most successful opera was the ''Liebling der Welt'' (Darling of the World) with over 300 performances in a theater located at the ''Gärtnerplatz'' in Munich, Germany. The theater was focused on Revue operettas by Fritz Fischer.
With the emergence of radio he began to create numerous compositions of high quality entertainment music such as orchestra suites, serenades and romances which were mostly intended for salon orchestras. They became very well-known thru the new media of radio. He also worked as film score composer.
The musical education of children and young people was very dear to Willy Geisler. He wrote several childrens' songs and introduced several musical instruments by means of small and simple compositions which were supplemented by texts. He published together with Erich Gottwald in 1927 a two-part music volume for secondary schools.
