Amateur musician
He has played the trumpet since his youth and was a trumpeter in Breda during his military service in the 70s where he received his musical education at the KMA (Royal Dutch Military Academy). He was "loaned" to the ''Royal Guards Regiment of the Hunters'' and learned to play the horn there.
Back in the civilian world he led several music clubs in Amsterdam and
in the mid 80s he took over the concert organization of the Walloon Church in Amsterdam and directed it until he moved to Karlsruhe, Germany, where his great love came from.
Since 1990 he played in the ''Ev. Pos. Choir Berghausen'' (church choir near Karlsruhe). His love for the natural horn began in 1994 during the unforgettable ''Days of the Horn'' (Horntage) with Prof. H. Baumann in Essen.
In 1991 he founded the "Horn Ensemble Pfinztal" together with four wind instrument players from which a second group, a trio of Alphorn players was formed in 1996. Whether solo or as a quartet or with chamber orchestra or church organ, he composed and arranged many pieces for the two natural horn groups. They are not so easy to play for amateur wind instrument players.
Since that time he has also been composing alphorn sheet music for a small publishing house on the Upper Rhine.
For five years now he has been the "house and court arranger" of the ''Tamm Fanfare Band'' (Fanfarenzug).
He somehow always manages to put the conductor's crazy ideas on paper and make them playable for the brass band, and here too the pieces are not quite so easy to play:
Rock, hard rock, baroque, ... operas, operettas and of course "normal" fanfare band music.
Five times in a row the Tamm Fanfare Band became national champion, 1x German vice champion and finally German champion.
And this year 2020 ... "gucke ma mol"
