he Bamberg, Germany, born conductor and organist Christian Bischof has been directing church music at the large parish church of ''St. Margaret'' in Munich since 2013 where he works with several choirs. In addition, the versatile musician is also in demand as a concert organist at home and abroad and has been artistic director of the ''Nuremberg Chamber Choir'' since January 2018.
Bischof sees his musical roots in vocal music as a result of his schooldays at the ''Musikgymnasium der Regensburger Domspatzen''. After graduating from high school, he studied church music (A-exam) and organ at the ''Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg'' as well as at the ''Musikhögskolan'' in Piteå, Sweden, as a scholarship recipient of the ''Cusanuswerk''. In 2011 he finished his studies with a master class diploma in organ. He was influenced by his previous church music activities, where he always set new and lasting accents: for example in ''St. Kunigund'' in Bamberg, at the ''Augustinerkirche'' in Würzburg and the ''Basilica of the Benedictine Abbey of Scheyern''. In addition to various teaching activities, Christian Bischof's busy concert activities as an organist cultivate in particular the repertoire of early organ music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, German Romanticism and Messiaen's works. Numerous concerts as a soloist and together with renowned instrumentalists, ensembles and choirs have taken him to many important places, festivals and organ instruments in most European countries. Bishop has also performed several times at the ''American Guild of Organists'' and the ''Conference of Organ'' in the United States. He has been an ''Artist in Residence'' at Michigan University, lecturer at master classes, and has participated in juror competitions. In 2017, a concert tour took him to the concert halls of Russia for the first time. He also works and is recognized as a certified organ expert in Germany (Vereinigung der Orgelsachverständigen Deutschlands -VOD).
