Theodor Meyer was born 1873 in Bückeburg, Germany. He studied medicine and later law. After the "takeover" of the National Socialists in 1933 he emigrated to Italy, where he spent the rest of life.
From 1910 Theodor Meyer bore the surname Meyer-Steineg. He came from a Jewish family, but later converted to Christianity (Protestant).
Meyer-Steineg worked in a wide range of areas and because of his composer work, he was listed in the "Kurzgefaßten Tonkünstler-Lexikon" (Abridged Musician's Lexicon).
