Gabriel Möhlich (also Mölich, born around 1595 and lived until 1657) was a musician, composer and master of ballett during the 17th century. His father Michael Mölich was music director in Dresden (Saxony). Möhlich completed his music studies in 1619 under the direction of Heinrich Schütz and was named during the same year as an instrumentalist at the Electoral Saxon Court. Upon request of the Elector of Saxony, John George I in 1620, Möhlich was sent to Paris to study French ballet and received a sustenance of 800 guilders (based on Moritz Fürstenau). He became the electoral dance master in Dresden and choreographed in 1638 the song ballet ''Orpheus and Euridice'' which is one of ten individual ballets from an existing work with German text by August Buchner. Today it is considered music which was lost and belonging to the electoral music director Heinrich Schütz. The high regard of the performance of the work at the court was recognized with numerous cash gifts which could be as much as 1000 guilders.
